Proxima Fusion, Europe's fastest-growing and best-funded fusion company, is seeking a Heating System Supply Chain Lead to join the Plasma Heating System team in Munich. This role focuses on driving the development and delivery of heating systems for the Alpha stellarator, Proxima's next-generation fusion machine.
You will leverage deep expertise in high-power microwave and particle heating sources to act as the expert customer and technical integrator across grants, partnerships, and contracts that constitute the Alpha heating system supply chain. Your responsibilities include evaluating vendor proposals and designs to determine optimal paths for efficiently delivering power to the Alpha stellarator, integrating the heating system within Proxima's broader supply chain and stellarator design process, and interfacing with Alpha project management and external partnership teams to realize RF component delivery using internal and grant funding.
The experience and insights gained on Alpha will directly inform the heating system strategy for Stellaris, Proxima's first commercial power plant targeted for operation in the 2030s. You will play a central role in capturing learnings and translating them into supplier strategies that underpin a heating system capable of driving a commercial stellarator.
You bring direct experience leading the delivery and installation of megawatt-level heating or particle accelerator systems, with a proven track record driving success in projects dependent on vendor-delivered and internally developed systems. You possess exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-experts. Quality assurance and validation experience with high-power heating systems is highly valued, as is hands-on knowledge of gyrotrons, transmission systems, launcher antennas, and RF loads.
