Lovable is a software creation platform that has enabled over 60 million projects since launch in November 2024. The company is recognized as one of TIME's 100 Most Influential Companies and appears on Forbes AI 50 and CNBC Disruptor 50. Lovable operates from Stockholm with growing teams in London, Boston, New York, and San Francisco.
You will own technical accounting and reporting as Lovable builds toward becoming a generational company. This is a builder's role with significant setup work to complete. You'll report to the Group Financial Controller and work closely with the Head of Revenue Accounting and Chief Accounting Officer on significant judgments.
Key responsibilities include:
- Own technical accounting across stock-based compensation, leases, LLM commitments, consolidation, foreign currency, and M&A accounting
- Develop and maintain accounting policies and position papers; serve as the primary relationship manager with external auditors on technical matters
- Build the external reporting function: consolidated US GAAP financial statements, footnote disclosures, reporting calendar, and tie-out processes meeting public-company standards
- Own local statutory accounting for Swedish (K3) and UK (FRS 102) entities, including statutory financial statements and reconciliations to US GAAP
- Collaborate with the accounting team on month-end close, identifying adjustments and remediation measures
- Coordinate external audit activities, presenting significant judgments and complex transactions
- Assess new accounting standards and SEC requirements, planning adoption timelines
- Leverage AI tooling to draft disclosures, tie out numbers, and flag changes; establish standards for where human judgment is required
- Drive public-company readiness, including disclosure controls and SOX requirements
Lovable's business model involves selling subscriptions and usage-based credits to millions of self-serve users and enterprise customers through direct billing, app stores, and payment processors. The company purchases significant AI compute and operates across US, Swedish, and UK entities under US GAAP reporting.
REQUIREMENTS:
Must have:
- Deep US GAAP expertise, with ASC 842 (leases) and ASC 718 (stock-based compensation) as core strengths
- Demonstrated experience writing position papers on complex accounting matters that auditors have accepted
- Big 4 background, ideally including national office, accounting advisory, or SEC reporting exposure, followed by in-house experience at a technology company
- Proven track record building or materially upgrading external reporting processes: financial statements, disclosures, tie-outs, and reporting calendars
- Ability to explain complex accounting conclusions to non-accounting stakeholders (engineers, product managers) in plain English and adjust positions based on facts
- Comfort operating in ambiguity and building an AI-first function from the ground up
- Pragmatic approach to applying accounting guidance while minimizing operational overhead
Nice to have:
- Hypergrowth environment experience, ideally including IPO or first year as public company (S-1 or 10-K preparation, SOX implementation)
- Experience with AI, cloud, or consumption-based business models and their revenue and cost accounting implications
- IFRS experience and Swedish or UK statutory reporting knowledge
- Track record leveraging AI tools to draft disclosures, research guidance, or automate tie-outs, with informed views on their appropriate use
Not a fit if you prefer established processes on day one, prefer being asked for opinions rather than identifying questions independently, prioritize perfect work over timely solutions, or view AI as a threat rather than a tool.
