Xapo Bank is establishing a Structured Solutions function to own and expand its product offering across yield products, tokenization, asset-backed lending, and new structures at the intersection of digital assets and traditional finance.
As Head of Structured Solutions, you will take ownership of an established, revenue-generating credit fund and its counterparty relationships while setting strategic direction for future product development. You will report directly to the CFO, own the house view on structured product strategy, serve as the primary interface with the external licensed Investment Manager and Investment Committee, and have the mandate and budget to grow the team as the function scales.
This role combines a live book with existing counterparties, established governance processes, and dedicated analyst support from day one, alongside genuine authority to shape Xapo Bank's structured product offering and build the team needed to deliver it. You will have a structured transition period working alongside experienced outgoing team members to absorb institutional knowledge, models, data, and counterparty context.
Credit judgment is central to this role. Counterparty selection, due diligence, and ongoing monitoring are core daily activities. You need someone whose underwriting is as strong as their structuring—credible assessing counterparties and designing payoff profiles, with the judgment to walk away from deals that price well but underwrite badly.
In your first 12 months you will: take full ownership of the fund and counterparty relationships, complete knowledge transfer from the outgoing team, establish your operating rhythm with the Investment Committee and licensed Investment Manager, and set out the forward roadmap for Xapo's structured product offering and required resourcing.
Key responsibilities include: setting strategic direction and house view for structured investment solutions; leading delivery of yield products, tokenization initiatives, Bitcoin-backed loans, and new structures from concept through launch; driving Xapo's internal investment committee (monthly forum with CEO, CFO, and Head of Product); owning comprehensive initial and ongoing due diligence on counterparties; producing credit assessments in standardized, committee-ready format; maintaining ongoing credit risk oversight of the book; setting, monitoring, and enforcing exposure, concentration, and limit frameworks; identifying and originating new counterparties; preparing and presenting due diligence and lending proposals through the Investment Committee; supporting Legal in negotiating fund documentation; maintaining and evolving counterparty relationships; acting as primary point of engagement with the external licensed Investment Manager; overseeing fund operations and accounting; supporting reconciliation efforts; allocating coin and capital inflows; representing the fund internally; working closely with Treasury on risk evaluation, trading, execution, and system requirements; contributing banking input on ALCO, stress testing, and pricing; building, managing, and developing the Structured Solutions team; enabling the team by surfacing and resolving blockers; representing the team within Xapo; ensuring institutional knowledge is documented and durable; and acting as an internal reference point for technical, market, and crypto-ecosystem questions.
Xapo Bank is a fully distributed team of over 160 employees working remotely from 50+ countries. The company is headquartered in Gibraltar and focused on economic freedom and wealth protection through digital assets and structured finance.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Substantial experience in investment management, structured products, or digital asset markets, including senior ownership of a product, credit, or trading function
- Demonstrable credit underwriting and counterparty risk experience, ideally including unsecured lending, with judgment to decline deals that price well but underwrite poorly
- Ability to diligence both regulated financial institutions (using audited financials, capital position, covenant analysis) and crypto-native counterparties (including proof-of-reserves limitations, custody and rehypothecation risk, venue and exchange exposure, on-chain analysis, opaque cross-jurisdictional group structures)
- Strong quantitative capability and comfort building or overseeing pricing, risk, and structuring models
- Track record of designing and launching new financial products, ideally spanning yield, lending, or tokenization
- Experience operating through formal governance processes such as investment committees, with judgment on escalation
- Demonstrated people leadership: building teams, developing junior talent, setting clear technical and strategic direction
- Familiarity with both Bitcoin and traditional fiat markets, with genuine interest in where digital assets and structured finance intersect
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, comfortable engaging with external investment managers, counterparties, and internal committees
NICE TO HAVE:
- Exposure to regulated fund structures and working alongside a licensed external investment manager
- Experience with fund operations, including fund administrators, fund accountants, and NAV processes
- Existing relationships within digital asset counterparty or institutional investor networks
- Prior experience standing up or scaling a new team or function within fintech, bank, or asset manager
- Balance sheet and treasury experience, including ALCO, stress testing, and pricing within a regulated credit institution
- Experience taking over an existing book and making it your own
