Develop Health is using AI to accelerate access to life-saving medications by automating complex healthcare processes like benefit verification and prior authorization. The company has already helped over 2.5 million patients and is scaling rapidly after a major funding round, partnering with major pharmacy benefit managers and payers.
You will be hired as Head of Provider Growth, reporting directly to the CEO. You will own provider activation—specifically, the percentage of provider offices that respond on first contact and complete their first prior authorization with Develop Health. When pharmacies and hubs send prescriptions requiring prior authorization, the company typically needs clinical notes from the prescriber's office. Many of these offices are unfamiliar with Develop Health, so outreach happens via fax, email, secure EHR messaging, and phone calls. Your success metric is straightforward: response rate and speed of first submission by channel and office type.
You will lead a small team consisting of a Sales Development Manager (who runs the calling team) and a Growth Marketing Lead (who owns fax, email, and digital messaging). You will work closely with the product manager and engineers who build outreach tools, as well as with pharmacy and pharma partners.
Key responsibilities include: setting quarterly activation goals with the CEO and executing the plan to hit them; running weekly reviews of the activation funnel by channel and office type; deciding channel mix and testing new approaches; managing and hiring your direct reports; owning calling capacity and staffing decisions; bringing product and engineering the problems worth solving; evaluating and running outside channels and data vendors (HCP messaging networks, provider contact data, branded caller ID); and reporting results to pharmacy, hub, and pharma partners.
Success in this role requires owning the activation number and explaining weekly movements; building and managing the team; and making clear tradeoffs between channels, speed vs. cost, and manual operations vs. product builds.
You do not need a healthcare background, but you must pick up a complex domain quickly. Startup experience is a strong plus.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Demonstrated experience running a function with a clear outcome (growth, activation, sales development, or operations) where you owned the result and managed either managers or a multi-role team
- Track record of building and moving a funnel; ability to articulate the starting number, changes made, and results achieved
- Deep operational mindset: you listen to calls, review queues, and rewrite copy when needed
- Quantitative fluency; ability to pull your own data and set up trustworthy comparisons
- Strong collaboration skills with product and engineering; ability to translate operational insights into engineering problems
- Clear writing; ability to produce short, actionable plans and weekly updates
BONUS QUALIFICATIONS:
- Operating experience in healthcare (specialty pharmacy, hub services, patient access, revenue cycle)
- General management, growth, or operations leadership at an early-stage startup
- Experience evaluating and running outside vendors and paid channels against clear ROI
