Salary: USD 289,700 - 362,100 / annual
Mercury is a fintech platform providing banking, treasury, and financial workflow solutions for startups and technology companies. The company is seeking a Head of Product to own the Business Banking product end-to-end—the core of Mercury's offering.
In this role, you will own the P&L, strategy, and product offering across accounts, user experience, payments, new rails, and AI agents. You'll build AI- and data-driven user experiences at scale, competing directly with legacy banking incumbents. Key responsibilities include:
• Owning the full P&L and strategy for the Business Banking product line
• Building and scaling a high-performing product management team: recruiting, coaching, org design, and developing future leaders
• Deepening the core account offering and taking new products from 0-1 to scale (new payment rails, capabilities, agents)
• Making reliability and trust core product features—owning uptime, correctness, latency, and support outcomes as measurable KPIs
• Aligning the entire banking ecosystem (product, engineering, design, data, risk, compliance, legal, marketing, sales, support, partners) behind one cohesive strategy
• Driving deposit and payment growth while maintaining the controls and discipline required in a regulated, risk-sensitive environment
You'll work across a complex landscape: account opening and KYB, deposits and liquidity, multiple payment rails (ACH, wire, check, international, FedNow, RTP), and emerging AI-powered agents. This is a leadership role requiring both product vision and commercial acumen, with deep accountability for business performance.
REQUIREMENTS:
• 10+ years of experience, ideally in banking, payments, platforms, or financial products
• 5+ years leading product managers: hiring, coaching, org design, and performance management
• Deep command of how business banking works: account opening/KYB, deposits/liquidity, payment rails (ACH, wire, check, international, FedNow, RTP)
• Proven track record launching and scaling 0-1 financial products, ideally in fintech or high-growth environments, while also operating large products with real customers
• Exceptional cross-functional leadership across engineering, design, risk, compliance, finance, and external partners
• High bar for craft: creative, customer-centered, data-driven, and experimentation-oriented approach
• Enthusiasm for building AI- and agent-powered products
• Sound judgment in regulated, risk-sensitive environments: ability to balance delightful UX with necessary controls, knowing which corners are never worth cutting
