You will lead Boom Supersonic's manufacturing infrastructure strategy and execution, owning the full lifecycle of site acquisition, permitting, design, and construction for factories, test sites, and future campuses. Unlike traditional facilities roles treated as low-status outsourced functions, at Boom physical infrastructure is a first-class strategic priority.
Key responsibilities include:
- Own site strategy: determine what gets built where, in what order, and to what specification, driving alignment with program leadership
- Manage the full build-out of Boom's Superfactories and test sites, treating factories with the same rigor as engines and airplanes
- Challenge requirements and surface infrastructure bottlenecks, proposing alternatives and pushing back on constraints
- Manage general contractors, subcontractors, and construction vendors; evaluate whether key capabilities should remain external, move in-house, or be acquired
- Own utility strategy including power substations, natural gas, water, and data infrastructure; evaluate whether Boom should build utilities in-house
- Navigate local politics, permitting, and regulatory relationships as a first-person owner—directly engaging county commissioners, planning departments, and utility providers
- Treat capital strategically: know when to spend aggressively to unlock disproportionate value and when to hold the line; structure contractor incentives aligned with timeline
- Author the creative vision for Boom's physical footprint, not just executing existing plans but designing approaches no one has seen before
- Lead and develop a flat, high-output team, setting standards and raising the ceiling
