Pacific Fusion, founded in 2023 and backed by over $900M in funding, is building pulser-driven inertial fusion systems to achieve net facility gain and deliver abundant, affordable clean energy. As Head of Logistics & Inventory, you will own the complete flow of material across the company's San Leandro, CA and New Mexico sites—from supplier dock through production to installation. You'll build and lead logistics and inventory operations ensuring material availability never constrains the build schedule.
Key responsibilities include: owning inbound and outbound freight operations, carrier selection, customs/compliance for international shipments, and cost/service-level performance. You'll run receiving, warehousing, and shipping at each site, managing layout, storage strategy, and material handling for large, high-value precision hardware. You'll plan and execute inter-site transfers between California and New Mexico, including specialized packaging and rigging for oversized equipment. End-to-end inventory management falls under your purview: planning, min/max and safety stock strategy, cycle counting, discrepancy root-cause analysis, and driving inventory record accuracy to world-class levels.
You'll drive ERP/MES discipline across all material transactions, partner on system implementation and improvement, and work closely with supply chain and planning teams on material availability and clear-to-build processes. You'll support machine installation campaigns with staging, kitting, and site logistics. Building and leading the logistics and inventory team across sites—warehouse leads, material handlers, inventory analysts, and logistics coordinators—is essential. You'll establish KPIs (inventory accuracy, dock-to-stock time, on-time delivery, freight cost) and drive continuous improvement. Safety and housekeeping standards in warehouse and material handling operations are your responsibility.
You bring 10+ years in logistics, warehousing, and inventory management for complex hardware (energy, aerospace, semiconductor equipment, automotive, or similar), with 3+ years leading teams. You've proven success standing up or scaling multi-site logistics and warehouse operations, ideally during production ramps. You have deep command of inventory management fundamentals, hands-on ERP/MES experience including implementations, and experience moving large, high-value, or sensitive equipment. A builder's mindset and strong cross-functional instincts working with manufacturing, supply chain, engineering, and installation teams are critical. Bonus: field installation/construction logistics experience, greenfield warehouse startup experience, or APICS/CPIM, CLTD, or lean/Six Sigma certification.
