Sequence is an AI-native billing and quote-to-cash platform serving modern B2B teams. Founded by serial entrepreneurs and backed by a16z, 645 Ventures, and Salesforce Ventures, the company recently completed a Series A round.
This is a unique hybrid role combining internal finance leadership with product expertise. You will serve as the Head of Finance reporting directly to the Co-Founder/COO, while also acting as a subject matter expert for product and engineering teams—particularly the revenue recognition squad. Your responsibilities span traditional finance operations and strategic product input, positioning you to drive material value across Finance, Product, and GTM. You will represent Sequence with peers at industry events, customer calls, and onsite presentations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee month-end close and reconciliation with fractional accounting teams
- Own revenue recognition policy and audit readiness
- Hire and transition accounting fully in-house
- Play a central role in product feedback and prioritization for ASC 606/IFRS 15 revenue recognition and billing modules
- Own quarterly finance board pack preparation
- Manage liquidity balances across bank accounts
- Establish scalable processes and procedures across the finance stack (QBO, Xero, Sequence, Ramp, Gusto, Payfit)
You will work across London and NYC time zones to support product teams as an in-house finance expert. Initially supported by fractional UK and US accounting teams, you will build out a full internal finance function.
Requirements:
- Qualified accountant (CPA, ACA, ACCA, or CIMA)
- Ability to close books autonomously if needed
- 4+ years experience in fast-growing B2B SaaS or AI scaleups
- Demonstrated hypergrowth experience
- Ability to work across London/NYC time zones (essential)
- Proven track record of 2+ years in prior roles; seeking someone committed to 3-4+ years with the company
Bonus qualifications:
- Capable of building FP&A models and preparing quarterly board updates
- Experience scaling from Series A to C+
- Comfortable in fast-paced environments
- Hands-on experience with comparable finance products (Maxio, Chargebee, Zuora, Stripe Billing)
- In-person availability in NYC or London (not required)
