Parabolic Auto is modernizing consumer finance in the auto industry by partnering with car dealerships to deliver smarter F&I and aftermarket solutions. The company operates at the intersection of two heavily regulated industries: telecom-based consumer outreach and the sale of Vehicle Service Contracts (VSCs). This is the company's first dedicated compliance and legal hire, reporting directly to the CEO. You will own two critical areas of regulatory risk: telecom and consumer communications compliance, and vehicle service contract regulatory compliance. You'll also serve as the in-house point person for contract review, advertising compliance, security compliance, and general legal questions. This is a high-autonomy role with real authority to shape compliance processes from the ground up. Key responsibilities include: **Telecom & Consumer Communications Compliance**: Own end-to-end TCPA and A2P 10DLC compliance for SMS, email, and outbound calling. Manage right-to-contact documentation, consent management, and data handling from dealer DMS feeds. Audit A2P 10DLC registration, carrier relationships, and campaign vetting. Monitor call center agent scripting and disclosures. Track FCC, TCPA, and carrier policy changes and translate them into internal processes. Build and maintain an audit trail and compliance monitoring program. **Vehicle Service Contract Compliance**: Track state-by-state VSC regulations, licenses, registrations, and filings. Maintain a live compliance matrix across all operating states. Manage renewals, new-state registrations, surety bonds, and financial filings. Liaise with distribution partners on shared regulatory obligations. Flag regulatory risk in new products or expansions. **Contract Review**: Review and negotiate dealer program agreements, distribution/administrator agreements, vendor contracts, and data security addenda. Manage clawback provisions, indemnification language, and recurring deal terms. Build templates and playbooks to streamline routine contracts. **Advertising & Marketing Review**: Review consumer-facing marketing, scripts, and disclosures for FTC, state insurance advertising, and trademark compliance. **SOC 2 & Security Compliance**: Own the SOC 2 audit process, work with engineering/ops on controls and evidence, and serve as the point of contact for partner security questionnaires. **General Compliance & Legal**: Be the first point of contact for legal and compliance questions across the company. Determine when to handle matters in-house versus escalate to outside counsel, and manage outside counsel relationships efficiently. **Requirements** - 5+ years in a compliance, regulatory affairs, or legal role, ideally with direct exposure to TCPA/telecom marketing compliance and/or insurance or F&I regulatory compliance - Comfort working state-by-state regulatory matrices, not just federal frameworks - Experience at a small or venture-backed company, or demonstrated ability to operate without a large support team - Strong contract review and negotiation skills - SOC 2 or security compliance exposure is a plus but not required - JD/bar admission is a plus but not required if the candidate has strong regulatory/compliance depth
