You will join a small, mission-driven engineering team as a Prototype & Test Engineer, responsible for bringing new electromechanical products to market. This is a hands-on role requiring on-site presence 5 days per week in the San Francisco office. Key responsibilities: - Prototype and test complex electromechanical systems including sensors, pumps, mechanisms, and electronics - Build prototypes using 3D printing, machining, and quick-turn tooling with both in-house tools and external suppliers - Design and execute experiments to validate new designs, tracking and analyzing results - Design, build, and deploy custom physical test fixtures and jigs for R&D and manufacturing environments, including sensor specification and mechanical interfaces - Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and software engineering teams across the product development lifecycle - Develop test systems using embedded hardware (Arduino) and Python coding The company operates with high intensity and standards, emphasizing fast execution, iteration, and obsessive attention to detail. Requirements: - 1-3 years of hands-on prototyping and test experience with electromechanical systems - Proficiency with 3D modeling software (e.g., Solidworks, ProEngineer, or equivalent) - Experience using and maintaining basic shop tools including 3D printers, band saws, and milling machines - Strong written and verbal communication skills - Experience working in a fast-paced startup environment from concept to production - BS in Engineering or equivalent (MS preferred) - Ability to occasionally lift or push up to 50 lbs as needed
