SpaceX is seeking a Global Supply Manager for Raw Materials to support its Raptor engine program and broader spacecraft initiatives (Falcon, Dragon, Starship, Starlink). This is a technical operations role focused on managing the supply base for critical metallic raw materials including aluminum, stainless steel, nickel, titanium, and copper in various forms (plate, sheet, coil, round bars, extrusions, wires).
Key responsibilities include: managing relationships with raw material mills and distributors worldwide; leveraging demand forecasts and design releases to ensure supplier capacity and quality for aggressive production ramps; providing guidance to internal procurement and engineering teams on design for manufacturability and cost reduction; visiting supplier facilities to assess technical capability and capacity; monitoring costs and developing should-cost models for competitive analysis; delivering best-in-class total cost of ownership; installing and optimizing manufacturing capacity for supply continuity; driving supplier continuous improvement and cost-saving programs; administering and negotiating moderate to large contracts covering pricing, technical requirements, terms, liability, IP, and export compliance; preparing and analyzing RFx packages; issuing purchase orders; and ensuring compliance with company policies and government regulations.
The ideal candidate brings comprehensive experience negotiating strategic vendor relationships, driving cost reduction, and enabling supplier success. Required qualifications: advanced degree with 4+ years experience, or bachelor's degree with 6+ years, or 10+ years in engineering, purchasing, contract negotiation, material/production planning, operations, supply chain management, material cost control, or master production scheduling. Preferred: global raw material sourcing experience, ability to read technical drawings and GD&T, strong organizational and problem-solving skills, experience managing large-value contracts and LTAs, proven track record managing high-volume tactical POs with strategic commodity planning, supply chain optimization experience, technical procurement and NPI background, and exceptional communication skills.
