Faire is a technology wholesale platform connecting independent retailers globally with suppliers, using data and machine learning to power the shop-local movement. This is a foundational leadership role to build and scale Faire's physical safety and security function during a critical growth phase. You will own the complete safety and security strategy across Faire's global operations, reporting at the intersection of People, Legal, and Workplace Experience. This is both a strategic design role and an operational execution role—you'll define long-term vision while running day-to-day security operations. Key responsibilities include: **Physical Safety & Security Strategy**: Define Faire's physical safety posture across offices, events, and facilities. Conduct risk assessments, translate findings into proportional mitigation strategies, and build scalable programs as Faire expands geographically. Direct design of physical security systems for new and existing workplaces. **Security Operations & Incident Response**: Oversee day-to-day operations including guard services, access control policies, and incident investigation from initial assessment through resolution. Develop and execute emergency preparedness and response plans across all locations. **Travel Risk Management**: Build and operate a travel risk program providing employees with pre- and post-travel support domestically and internationally. Assess risk for elevated-risk destinations, define escalation protocols, and partner with People Ops and Legal to meet duty-of-care obligations. **Executive Protection**: Provide executive protection support for senior leadership during high-profile events, travel, and elevated-risk periods. Assess threat levels, recommend proportional protection measures, and manage relationships with external EP resources. **Standards & Readiness**: Establish safety and security standards across locations and work styles. Prepare the function for audits, insurance requirements, and public-company expectations. Partner with Legal, People, and Workplace on compliance and reporting. **Vendor & Partner Management**: Manage security vendors and external partners, set service standards, and maintain accountability frameworks in partnership with Procurement. **Employee Trust & Enablement**: Design safety programs and communications that are transparent and trust-building. Make it easy for employees to raise concerns and understand response processes. You'll need 8–12 years of corporate security, physical security, or law enforcement experience, ideally spanning both high-growth tech and mature organizations. You should have a track record building or significantly scaling a security function from the ground up. Deep expertise in physical security systems (access control, CCTV, alarm), emergency response planning, and threat assessment is essential. Experience running travel risk programs and executive protection with vendor management is required. You excel at writing and operationalizing clear, proportional policies that people adopt without friction. You demonstrate sound judgment in sensitive situations and partner effectively with HR, Legal, and Workplace teams on complex cases.
