Ascendis Pharma, a dynamic global biopharmaceutical company advancing programs in Endocrinology Rare Disease and Oncology, seeks a Global Medical Affairs Planning & Effectiveness, Content Platform Lead to drive the strategic direction and operational excellence of medical content management across the organization.
In this director-level role, you will own the global Medical content governance framework, including policies, standards, taxonomy, metadata strategy, and lifecycle management. You will establish an integrated operating model across Medical Affairs, Regulatory Affairs, Market Access, Commercial, and IT to ensure content systems function as a coordinated enterprise capability. You will define governance structures, decision rights, and prioritization frameworks while leading resolution of competing stakeholder priorities to balance compliance, usability, scalability, and business objectives.
As the senior business owner for Veeva MedComms and related content management platforms, you will partner closely with IT to define platform roadmaps, enhancement priorities, and long-term capability development. You will translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions, lead governance and prioritization of system enhancements, oversee platform adoption and training, and collaborate with vendors to optimize system performance.
You will provide strategic oversight for medical and non-promotional content review processes globally, ensuring compliant and efficient workflows across cross-functional stakeholders. You will establish standards and best practices for content submission, review, approval, and audit readiness, and guide support of product launches, new indications, and label updates through effective content review planning.
This role requires significant cross-functional leadership and influence across Medical Affairs, Regulatory Affairs, Market Access, Commercial, Legal, Compliance, and IT. You will act as the primary liaison among these functions, chair governance committees, and influence stakeholders across organizational boundaries without direct authority. You will develop and maintain global performance measurement frameworks, define KPIs related to adoption, utilization, review efficiency, and compliance, and create executive dashboards providing visibility into system performance.
You will lead global change management strategies supporting new processes, governance models, and technology initiatives, developing communication plans, training programs, and adoption campaigns. You will build organizational capability through education, coaching, and stakeholder engagement, and support development of future-state operating models that enhance effectiveness and scalability.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree in Life Sciences, Business Administration, Healthcare Management, Information Management, or related field preferred.
- Minimum 7 years of progressively responsible experience within pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or healthcare industry.
- Significant experience in Medical Affairs operations, content governance, non-promotional review, or regulated content management environments.
- Demonstrated expertise with Veeva MedComms, medical content management systems, electronic document management systems, and associated workflows.
- Experience leading global cross-functional initiatives and governance programs.
- Proven track record driving business process transformation and technology-enabled operational improvements.
- Experience partnering effectively with IT organizations and managing enterprise platform strategies.
- Strategic leadership and enterprise thinking capability.
- Deep understanding of Medical Affairs operations and scientific content workflows.
- Expertise in content governance, taxonomy, metadata, and repository architecture.
