BillionToOne is a publicly traded genomics company transforming prenatal and cancer diagnostics through non-invasive testing. The UNITY platform detects inherited disorders like sickle cell disease, spinal muscular atrophy, and cystic fibrosis directly from maternal blood, enabling early intervention and significantly improved patient outcomes. As General Supervisor for the Prenatal Laboratory, you will lead daily clinical laboratory operations in a high-complexity CLIA setting, overseeing a growing team of licensed Clinical Laboratory Scientists and unlicensed Clinical Laboratory Assistants. This is an onsite position reporting to the Director of Laboratory Operations, working Monday-Friday PM shift with a 20% differential. Key responsibilities include: - Direct supervision and management of CLIA laboratory staff (CLS and CLA roles) - Oversight of pre-analytical and analytical operations, including scheduling and troubleshooting - Leadership of continuous process improvement initiatives: reagent quality control, technology transfer, validation studies, and staff training - Participation in recruiting and hiring to support growing sample volumes - Cross-functional communication between laboratory teams and other departments - Execution of company OKRs with partial ownership of laboratory objectives - Fostering a collaborative team environment that supports continuous skill development You will need a California Clinical Laboratory Scientist License (ASCP, CGMBS, or generalist) meeting CLIA Testing Personnel requirements. Required qualifications include a bachelor's degree in chemistry, physics, or biological sciences; 4-5 years of CLS experience in a clinical setting (molecular and/or high-complexity preferred); and proven supervisory experience managing laboratory staff. Hands-on expertise with manual molecular biology protocols (DNA extraction, PCR, automated liquid handlers) is essential. Proficiency with Google Workspace, Excel, basic statistics, LIMS systems, and familiarity with Next-Generation Sequencing is expected. Nice-to-have qualifications include prior CLIA General Supervisor experience, startup background, medical genetics knowledge, and cell-free DNA laboratory experience.
