As General Counsel, you will lead Stedi's entire legal function and serve as a strategic partner to the CEO and board. This is a C-level role owning all aspects of legal and regulatory strategy for a rapidly scaling company operating in a complex, regulated industry.
Key responsibilities include:
- Develop and execute regulatory and legal strategy to deepen relationships with payers, navigating enforcement, compliance requirements, and market access dynamics
- Lead competitive and enforcement matters, defending and advancing Stedi's interests where legal strategy directly determines market outcomes
- Build legal frameworks for novel data products operating in complex regulatory areas, converting uncertainty into defensible product strategy
- Identify growth opportunities and remove legal/regulatory blockers that accelerate deals
- Own the full scope of legal function: commercial agreements, disputes, compliance, IP, employment, corporate governance, and fundraising
- Partner directly with CEO and board on strategic decisions where legal and regulatory considerations shape business direction

REQUIREMENTS:
- 10+ years of relevant legal experience combining law firm and fast-paced in-house roles
- Significant in-house experience, including managing litigations and disputes, ideally in a senior legal role at a high-growth company
- Deep healthcare experience strongly preferred (regulatory and commercial complexity of healthcare infrastructure, payers, providers, or health tech); alternatively, deep experience in another heavily regulated, high-complexity industry (e.g., financial services, payments, insurance)
- True generalist who solves problems across domains and strives to figure out unfamiliar areas rather than refer them out
- Fast-moving mindset; ability to keep pace with rapid company velocity
- Commercial and business-oriented mindset; think like a business leader who wields legal expertise for company strategy, not a lawyer who occasionally considers business
- Alignment with Stedi Standards (company values)
- JD and membership in at least one U.S. state bar
