Alan is a prevention-focused health insurance company serving 1M+ members across 40K+ companies, with €800M+ ARR. The company integrates insurance, prevention, and care into a unified user experience and is building a global leading organization with 1000+ employees. The Hopper Crew is building Alan's internal agentic AI platform—a unified productivity tool and AI companion for all Alaners. Hopper enables coding, data analysis, automation, research, and everyday work through durable AI sessions accessible via web, Slack, Linear, and GitHub. As a Fullstack Software Engineer, you will contribute to one or more of these core areas: 1. Product experience: Building durable AI sessions across multiple platforms (web, Slack, Linear, GitHub) for coding, data analysis, automation, and general work 2. Agent runtime and orchestration: Developing control planes, harnesses, model routing, long-running execution, recovery mechanisms, and isolated sandboxes 3. Secure connectors: Building an MCP Gateway that manages identity, credentials, permissions, confirmations, sensitivity tracking, and audit trails 4. Skills, automations, and artifacts: Creating reusable workflows, scheduled/event-driven work, dashboards, and hosted tools 5. Trust and review: Implementing evaluations and product experiences that expose tests, screenshots, previews, queries, sources, and tool actions The 2026 focus is scaling Hopper from a coding agent into a trustworthy AI companion for all Alaners. This includes faster and more durable sessions, safe access to company tools and data, HDS-compatible infrastructure for sensitive workloads, stronger evaluations, and inspectable results. The vision is moving from "AI tools you monitor" to "AI agents you trust," with managed agent pools, sandboxed environments, autonomous testing, and CI auto-fix capabilities. You will own work end-to-end, from React interactions and API contracts to production reliability. The tech stack includes Python/Flask, React, React Native, and PostgreSQL in a monorepo, with daily deployments and distributed ownership. The engineering team values product interaction, fast movement, and ownership. Engineers who make product decisions are the same ones who build them. You'll work with talented, committed, and passionate engineers tackling big problems.
