Neo4j is seeking a full-stack software engineer with deep front-end expertise to join the Graph Engine team, which builds Virtual Graph—a product that enables customers to query data in platforms like Snowflake, Databricks, and BigQuery as a graph without moving it. The team translates Cypher into SQL, executes it on the customer's platform, and returns results as a graph. Virtual Graph is in public preview and heading toward general availability. In this role, you will guide the technical direction of the UI and collaborate with team members across the full stack. You'll work on the query engine, database connectivity, cloud infrastructure, and the Aura console UI. The team owns Virtual Graph end-to-end, and you'll contribute across the entire product rather than working in silos. You'll mentor others in front-end development and learn from experienced engineers across backend systems, cloud, and connectivity. Key technologies include React (core strength), Java, Scala, SQL, Cypher/GQL, Go, TypeScript, JDBC, and cloud-native systems. You'll be responsible for driving front-end architecture decisions, building complex data-rich web applications, and working across backend systems with curiosity and willingness to learn new languages and technologies. Neo4j is a well-funded, rapidly scaling graph database company with $200M+ in annual recurring revenue, backed by top-tier investors (Eurazeo, GV, Inovia Capital), and valued at over $2B. The company serves 84% of the Fortune 100 and 58% of the Fortune 500. Neo4j is described as a Silicon Valley company with a Swedish soul, emphasizing collaboration, relationships, user success, and inclusive culture. REQUIREMENTS: - 5+ years of practical experience in front-end development with React at a level where you can drive technical decisions, front-end architecture, and mentor others - Demonstrated experience building complex, data-rich web applications - Willingness and ability to work beyond the front end: curiosity to pick up new languages, backend systems, and cloud technologies - Ideally: experience with backend development in Java, Scala, or Go (JVM experience a plus); cloud-native development and container orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes); cloud data platforms (Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery); distributed databases or database internals; database drivers and connectivity (JDBC, HTTP-based drivers); software architecture for scalable systems
