Neo4j is seeking a full-stack software engineer with deep front-end expertise to join the Graph Engine team, specifically working on Virtual Graph—a new product that enables customers to query data in platforms like Snowflake, Databricks, and BigQuery as a graph without moving it.
The role is genuinely full-stack: your core strength will be React and front-end development, but you'll also work across backend systems, cloud infrastructure, and connectivity using Java, Scala, SQL, Cypher/GQL, Go, and TypeScript. On the JVM side you'll work with JDBC; on the UI/client side, React.
Virtual Graph translates Cypher queries into SQL, executes them on the customer's platform, and returns results as a graph. The product is in public preview heading toward general availability, so there is substantial work ahead. The team owns Virtual Graph end-to-end: query engine, database connectivity, cloud infrastructure, and the UI in the Aura console.
You will play a key role in guiding the UI's technical direction and collaborating with team members. Beyond front-end work, you'll contribute across the rest of the stack and learn from experienced engineers. The team avoids silos; everyone works across the product.
Neo4j is a well-funded, high-growth database company. It recently surpassed $200M in annual recurring revenue, raised $325M in its Series F (the largest funding round in database history), and is valued at over $2B. The company is backed by world-class investors including Eurazeo, GV (Google Ventures), and Inovia Capital, and has raised over $600M total. 84% of the Fortune 100 and 58% of the Fortune 500 use Neo4j, including Boston Scientific, BT Group, Caterpillar, Cisco, Comcast, eBay, NBC News, and Novo Nordisk.

IDEAL EXPERIENCE (not required):
- Backend development in Java, Scala, or Go (JVM experience is a plus)
- Cloud-native development and container orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes)
- Cloud data platforms such as Snowflake, Databricks, or BigQuery
- Distributed databases or database internals
- Database drivers and connectivity (e.g., JDBC or HTTP-based drivers)
- Software architecture and keeping systems maintainable as they scale
