Salary: USD 140,000 - 260,000 / annual

Substack is building an economic engine for independent creators, providing publishing platforms that empower writers with direct subscriptions, creative ownership, and direct audience connections. The Enterprise team focuses on making Substack the default platform for ambitious founders building media empires. You will develop features that help creators grow their audiences and businesses on Substack. Key responsibilities include building custom websites and reusable tools for publications to express their identity and customize their presence, creating audience tools to help publishers reach the right readers and understand performance metrics, and collaborating with designers, engineers, and external customers throughout the product lifecycle—from concept and research through implementation and deployment. You'll own meaningful features with support and feedback from experienced teammates. The team works primarily with TypeScript (Node/Express and React) and Postgres. Prior experience with these technologies is helpful but not required; the team is committed to helping you learn. REQUIREMENTS: - 3–6 years of professional software engineering experience, including building and shipping web applications - Ability to take initiative and ownership of work, communicate clearly about progress and blockers, and balance independent work with asking for help when needed - High standards for production systems and code quality - Pride in building elegant and delightful product experiences that get out of the way so creators can focus on their work - Collaborative mindset with diverse thinkers; ability to bring unique experience and background to the team - Belief in Substack's mission to build a better business model for writing
