You will serve as the primary finance partner to the leadership team, marketing, sales, product, and operations. This is a business-facing FP&A role—closer to a business CFO than a traditional finance analyst. You'll embed with cross-functional teams to understand how the business actually works and translate financial plans into operational targets and deliverables.
Key responsibilities include:
- Partner with Marketing, Sales, Product, and operating teams to translate the financial plan into targets they own; pressure-test assumptions and help them hit numbers proactively rather than reporting after the fact
- Build and own the monthly reporting package for the executive team and board: P&L, balance sheet, cash flow, plan-to-actual-to-forecast variance, and explanatory commentary
- Define the operating KPI layer alongside financials, establishing one definition per metric and one source of truth
- Own the annual planning cycle end-to-end, plus monthly and quarterly forecast processes
- Maintain the driver-based operating model connecting core business drivers to P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow
- Partner with the finance leader on headcount planning
- Own unit economics and cohort analysis, with judgment to identify which data cuts actually answer the question
- Support capital markets work: equity raise package prep, capital structure scenarios, portfolio and credit performance analysis, and clean diligence responses
Success in the first 6 months means: monthly reporting on a fixed schedule with agreed metric definitions; standing unit economics reporting so debates focus on strategy, not numbers; an operating model used company-wide for investment decisions and board conversations; a bottoms-up annual plan that teams recognize and are measured against; business leaders consulting you before decisions; and documented, repeatable processes running off the data warehouse.
Requirements:
- 6–8 years in FP&A or strategic finance, including leading (not just contributing to) a planning and reporting function
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field; MBA preferred
- Demonstrated experience building financial processes from scratch, with clear judgment on what not to build
- Strong command of unit economics and cohort analysis
- AI-first mindset: use AI tools aggressively to automate workflows, data analysis, reporting, and other repetitive tasks; raise the ceiling on what a small finance team can produce
- SQL fluency and comfort working directly in a data warehouse
- Native Excel proficiency and strong modeling judgment
- Quick decision-making: move from ambiguous question to defensible recommendation in hours or days, not weeks
Preferred:
- Experience at a 200–800 person company through rapid growth
- Fintech, lending, or payments background
- Support of a Series C or later raise, debt facility, or bank partnership
- Prior people management experience
