Salary: GBP 35,000 - 45,000 / annual
Zen Educate is a high-growth EdTech marketplace that connects UK and US schools with vetted teachers and support staff, disrupting the £2 billion temporary staffing market. The company has raised $37m in Series B funding and is a Certified B Corporation. You'll join the finance function as it evolves from reporting historical performance to driving strategic decision-making.
In this role, you'll own core weekly and monthly management reporting end-to-end, transforming manual processes into automated, consistent workflows. You'll write narrative commentary explaining what moved, why, and what actions to take—not just present numbers. You'll play a central role in annual budgeting and termly reforecasts on a school-year calendar across both UK and US operations, building and maintaining driver-based models for revenue, headcount, and costs.
You'll act as a finance business partner to Regional Directors and commercial leads, joining monthly performance reviews and leading analysis on unit economics, marketing ROI, and regional performance. You'll support investment and pricing decisions with clear cost-benefit analysis, even when data is incomplete and judgment is required. On the systems side, you'll optimize the finance stack (Abacum, Xero, Hibob, Pleo, BI tools), reconcile data across systems, and identify processes to automate using formulas, scripts, or AI tools. You'll document processes in Coda so knowledge lives in the team.
The role reports to the Head of FP&A and offers direct mentorship and exposure to strategic business decisions. You'll work from a central London office (Oval) on a hybrid basis, 2 days per week from home, in a dog-friendly space with gym, café, bike parking, and showers.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 3+ years in FP&A, strategic finance, business analysis, or analytical role with exposure to budgeting, forecasting, and month-end management reporting
- Advanced Excel and Google Sheets skills, including building integrated models from scratch
- Degree in a numerate subject or accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) complete or in progress
- Experience in a high-growth, fast-paced organization
- BI tools and coding languages beneficial but not required
- Commercial curiosity, attention to detail, analytical rigor, clear communication, proactive ownership, and enthusiasm for systems and efficiency
- Experience using AI tools to work faster and smarter is a plus
