Salary: USD 180,000 - 230,000 / annual
Probook is an AI Operating System for the home services industry, automating dispatch and workflow management for plumbing, HVAC, and electrical businesses. You are the founding designer and will own the complete design and frontend implementation across the web app, mobile, and Chrome extension.
In this role, you will:
- Own UI/UX quality across all three surfaces from conception through production
- Ship production frontend code yourself—most of what you design, you will build and merge
- Establish Probook's visual and interaction language from scratch, setting a new standard for an industry that currently runs on 2008-era software
- Sit in on customer calls and observe operators in the field, translating insights directly into shipped features
- Partner closely with engineers from specification through shipping and with founders on product direction
- Leverage AI coding tools (Claude Code, Cursor, etc.) to move from problem definition to multiple working flows in a single day
This is a hands-on role where design and engineering are inseparable. You will establish the bar for product quality and user experience across the platform.
Requirements:
- 4–6 years of product design experience, with at least 2+ years at startups
- Proven track record of merging your own frontend code to production (portfolio and specifics will be reviewed)
- B2B or ops-heavy product background
- Strong portfolio demonstrating shipped product work
- Ability to deliver high-quality work in hours, not weeks
What separates top candidates:
- Refined taste and attention to detail (e.g., catching and fixing typographic inconsistencies)
- Ability to articulate design decisions and reasoning, not just present artifacts
- Thorough problem exploration followed by fast convergence
- Prioritization of important flows over interesting ones without prompting
- Ability to move quickly and effectively with incomplete context
- Continuous self-improvement and learning outside of work
