Nectar Social is an AI-native social operating system enabling the next generation of commerce. Founded by ex-Meta product and engineering leaders, the company has raised over $30M from investors including GV and True Ventures, and works with brands like Oura Health, Caraway, e.l.f. Cosmetics, Kosas, and OLIPOP.
As the first dedicated Data Science hire, you will have massive scope, high ownership, and direct influence on the future of social commerce. You will work directly with engineering and product teams to translate vast, unstructured datasets—including full-spectrum Reddit networks, Meta creator ecosystems, and campaign data—into core product features and proprietary industry standards.
Key responsibilities include:
- Own core analytics features, including building next-generation Earned Media Value (EMV) metrics, multi-touch attribution modeling, and deep commerce platform integrations.
- Partner with Engineering to improve data structure and retrieval, enhancing reporting efficiency and value.
- Develop trend-forecasting algorithms and analytical models on proprietary dataset architectures.
- Define and standardize proprietary Nectar metrics that shape how consumer brands go to market.
- Partner closely with Product and Software Engineering to translate models into production code without relying on engineering teams to rewrite logic.
- Contribute technical leadership to the high-visibility Data Desk initiative, powering public reports cited by Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg, and Forbes, and supporting data-driven customer acquisition.
The role is hybrid: 4 days in office plus 3 remote flex days per quarter (after first 3 months). Benefits include competitive compensation with early equity, health/vision/dental coverage, 401(k) match, ClassPass membership, $50/month mobile and internet stipends, $1,000/month housing stipend for living near the office, and fully paid commuter benefits.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 4–7 years of data science experience
- Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or related quantitative field
- Advanced Python proficiency and expert SQL capabilities
- Proven software engineering fundamentals with track record of writing clean, production-ready code
- High comfort with ambiguity, fast-paced execution, and rapid learning in new domain spaces
- Exceptional written communication skills; demonstrated ability to turn complex data and analysis into clear, compelling narratives for non-technical and public-facing audiences
- Strong technical rigor and ability to write clean, maintainable code independently
PREFERRED:
- Prior experience in social media ecosystems, influencer platforms, or creator economy tools (e.g., CreatorIQ, Meta)
- Background working with massive, unstructured text, media, or social network data
- Experience in technical writing for external artifacts (blog posts, reports)
