Shield AI is a venture-backed defense-tech company developing intelligent autonomy systems for unmanned platforms. As a Forward Deployed Engineer II, you will work at the intersection of AI, autonomy, and defense technology, supporting customers worldwide in deploying and integrating Shield AI's Hivemind autonomy software.
You will become an expert user of the Hivemind Enterprise Autonomy Software Development Kit and develop AI and autonomy applications for unmanned platforms across air, sea, land, and space domains. Key responsibilities include deploying Hivemind AI infrastructure at customer sites, providing technical training to customers on autonomy development, and assisting with integration of Hivemind autonomy into customer vehicles and platforms. You will help customers debug software and API integration issues, collaborate with product and engineering teams to incorporate customer feedback, and develop technical documentation and training materials. You will also support the sales team in answering complex technical queries and travel to customer sites as needed (approximately 30% travel).

REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent with Master's/PhD)
- 2+ years of industry experience (may be less with advanced degree)
- Technical background in software engineering
- Strong proficiency in modern C++ code
- Intermediate proficiency in Python code
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Preferred: experience in defense, aviation, or robotics industry
