Razorpay is a leading full-stack fintech company powering India's digital payment revolution. The company processes $180+ billion in annualized transactions and serves leading businesses including Airbnb, Facebook, WhatsApp, Airtel, CRED, BookmyShow, Zomato, Swiggy, and over 100 Indian unicorns. Razorpay has raised over $740 million from investors including GIC, Peak XV Partners, Tiger Global, Ribbit Capital, and Salesforce Ventures. Agent Studio helps Razorpay merchants run AI agents across payments, checkout, disputes, subscriptions, reconciliation, risk, and customer workflows. The platform transforms messy, undocumented merchant work into reliable production agents. As a Forward-Deployed Engineer, you will be the single technical owner of strategic merchant relationships. You are equal parts engineer, solution consultant, and merchant partner. You will own customer discovery end-to-end, including discovery calls, workshops, solution reviews, and rollout check-ins. You'll sit inside merchant workflows to understand real processes, not documented ones, and reconcile conflicting signals across business owners, operators, dashboards, and ticket queues into clear problem statements. You will design solutions by naming the business constraint behind merchant asks (checkout recovery, dispute win rate, settlement delay, support load, etc.) and converting fuzzy problems into crisp agent specs with success metrics, data sources, tool calls, guardrails, and human-in-the-loop points. You'll decide what the agent does autonomously, what it recommends, and where human approval is required. You will build prototypes, connectors, MCP tool specs, eval fixtures, dashboards, and integration glue code to get agents into production. You'll debug failures across Razorpay systems, merchant systems, external tools, and model behavior. You'll deploy within real merchant constraints—auth, networking, data access, latency, cost, observability, and compliance—keeping these in design from day one. You will set quality gates and outcome metrics before rollout, track production outcomes, and measure whether agents moved target metrics. You'll diagnose and fix failures or kill initiatives with evidence. You'll drive expansion by spotting high-value use cases, prototyping them, and deepening merchant agent footprint. You'll turn repeated field patterns into reusable Agent Studio capabilities—connectors, templates, eval packs, docs, platform requirements—serving as the field voice that shapes what the platform builds next. This is a deeply customer-facing role where you own the conversation end-to-end. You'll walk into rooms where business owners, ops leads, and dashboards tell different stories, and you'll reconcile them into specs everyone agrees to ship. You earn customer trust because you can reshape the ask and write the code. REQUIREMENTS: - 3+ years shipping production software - Strong in Python or TypeScript - Direct experience working with customers, enterprise stakeholders, or operators; comfortable owning the room and technical relationship - Hands-on experience with APIs, webhooks, auth, data pipelines, and production debugging - Practical LLM/agent experience: prompts, tool calling, RAG, evals, or workflow automation - Preference for ambiguous, high-context problems over clean tickets - Ability to take ambiguous problems, define structure, and drive to resolution - Clear writing skills for specs, implementation plans, and follow-ups STRONG PLUSES: - Prior experience as solutions engineer, solution consultant, sales engineer, founding engineer, product engineer, applied AI engineer, or operator who coded - Payments, fintech, ecommerce, subscriptions, risk, reconciliation, settlement, or finance-ops experience - Experience with MCP servers, agent skills, multi-agent workflows, eval harnesses, or LLM observability - Enterprise integration experience: private connectors, VPC/on-prem constraints, SOC2/ISO reviews
