As a Forward Deployed Engineer, you will embed with enterprise customers and frontier AI model providers to design, develop, and deploy solutions that integrate Fortanix's Confidential AI platform into their architectures. This is a hands-on role where you own the full lifecycle: from understanding customer requirements and designing reference architectures, through implementation, debugging, and shipping production fixes. Key responsibilities include: - Design and develop customer-specific solutions by understanding enterprise and frontier model provider AI and security architectures, then architecting how Fortanix Confidential AI fits into their environments - Build integrations and connectors that tie the platform into customers' existing stacks and orchestration systems - Architect trust models, designing attestation and key-release flows for workloads, including composite attestation and end-to-end protection of keys and models - Scope and develop proofs of concept with clear success criteria that demonstrate value and meet enterprise objectives - Shape the product by translating field learnings into RFCs, feature designs, and product requirements, working with core teams to implement them - Contribute to the open-source community through code, reviews, and RFCs - Create reusable assets including reference architectures, sample workloads, and design patterns for the team and wider community You will work at the intersection of AI and hardware security on problems few engineers globally have solved. Your work directly impacts whether the largest enterprises and AI providers can confidently run their most sensitive models and data anywhere. Requirements: - 4–7 years of hands-on experience in systems, infrastructure, platform, or security engineering, with meaningful customer-facing experience - Strong Linux systems skills: kernel boot, systemd, storage and filesystems, networking, PCIe devices - Working experience with OpenShift, Kubernetes, or Slurm (preferred) - Proficiency in at least one of Rust, Go, or Python; comfortable reading unfamiliar codebases and making targeted changes - Familiarity with cryptography and PKI: certificates, key formats, TLS, signing, and key management concepts - Clear written and verbal communication; ability to explain attestation to a CISO and debug technical failures with platform teams - Ability to work independently, set expectations, and escalate early
