Shield AI is a venture-backed defense-tech company developing autonomous systems, aircraft platforms, and simulation technologies for military and defense operations. The Field Integration & Test Specialist is a hands-on technical role supporting deployed systems across global locations. You will be part of the Field Integration and Test team, responsible for ensuring high fleet readiness and operational uptime. Your work spans the full lifecycle of system deployment: from pre-deployment site surveys through field installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and ongoing sustainment. Key responsibilities include: • Site Surveys: Assess deployment locations before installation, evaluating site conditions, infrastructure, power, communications, and environmental constraints. Document findings to support integration planning. • Field Installation: Install, set up, and configure systems at customer sites, ensuring each installation meets technical and operational requirements before handover. • System Configuration & Validation: Configure and validate deployed systems, including new capabilities before operational use. • Field Troubleshooting: Serve as the primary troubleshooter in the field, diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, and subsystem issues to maintain operations. • Maintenance & Sustainment: Own parts readiness, scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, and fleet sustainment activities. • Field Modifications: Execute approved changes to fielded hardware and systems. • Configuration Management: Maintain accurate configuration records for all deployed assets. • Technical Decision-Making: Make field-level technical decisions with input from the Field Integration Engineer, particularly under time pressure in austere environments. • Integration Support: Support integration planning, contribute to root cause analysis, and collect field data for long-term improvements. • Customer Support & Training: Provide technical support and hands-on training to customers on system setup, operation, and maintenance. • Cross-Team Coordination: Work closely with engineering, operations, logistics, and customer teams to resolve issues and maintain deployment readiness. Success is measured by thorough and accurate site surveys, on-schedule installations to specification, high system readiness and uptime, rapid issue resolution, and effective customer communication. REQUIREMENTS: Must-Have: • Experience with field installation, integration, or deployment of technical systems • Hands-on troubleshooting and diagnostic skills for hardware and software issues • Experience with maintenance, sustainment, and configuration management • Ability to make sound technical decisions under time pressure in austere environments • Clear communication skills, including customer training and cross-team collaboration • Ability to obtain a Secret security clearance Preferred: • Experience working in electrical and RF environments, including power distribution, cabling, grounding, antennas, RF equipment, and electromechanical systems
