This is a people-management role overseeing approximately 12 Financial Crime Business Banking Investigators focused on preventing fraud, money laundering, and financial crime across Monzo's merchant acquiring business.
Key responsibilities include managing the personal and professional development of team members, fostering a high-performance culture, and providing technical coaching on merchant acquiring financial crime tasks including KYB (Know Your Business), merchant due diligence, card scheme compliance, and investigations. The ideal candidate brings subject matter expertise in Merchant Acquiring or Payment merchant services, with proven experience in KYC/B, AML, or compliance roles within payments or financial services. You should have a strong background managing teams within Financial Crime in Business Banking with exposure to merchant acquiring. Understanding of current financial crime trends and acquiring typologies (structuring, shell merchants, merchant facility abuse) is essential. You'll provide technical coaching on FC Business Banking tasks, communicate clearly and inspiringly, and demonstrate empathetic people leadership. The role requires strong prioritization and risk assessment skills in a fast-paced, change-oriented environment.
