Anthropic is seeking a senior Finance & Strategy leader to own the financial strategy for the Claude Platform (API), the primary way developers and enterprises build with Claude. The role sits on the Product Finance team and works closely with product, engineering, inference, and go-to-market leaders.
You will shape how Anthropic prices and packages the API, structures commitments and service tiers, and monetizes new products and capabilities as they launch. You'll design business models that balance adoption, capacity, and margin, working with infrastructure and inference teams to ensure pricing reflects the cost to serve and how capacity constraints shape what the company sells.
Key responsibilities include: owning financial strategy for the Claude Platform across self-serve, enterprise, and cloud partner channels; designing and launching new business models such as capacity commitments, service tiers, and usage- or outcome-based pricing; setting pricing for new product features; partnering with infrastructure teams to translate efficiency gains and capacity constraints into pricing and product decisions; working with product leaders on roadmap priorities and business cases; bringing recommendations to executive leadership with supporting analysis; defining metrics and dashboards to track pricing performance; coordinating with FP&A, accounting, deal desk, and revenue operations on forecasting and billing; and mentoring members of the Product Finance team.
This is a finance role that sits very close to product, requiring you to be part of product decisions as they're made, bringing financial models, tradeoffs, and clear recommendations.
REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum qualifications:
- Experience in strategic finance, product finance, or closely related field, including ownership of pricing or business model decisions
- Hands-on experience with consumption-based or usage-based business models, including pricing, packaging, and forecasting
- Experience with infrastructure, cloud, or developer platform businesses, with working understanding of how compute costs and capacity drive unit economics
- Track record of designing and launching new pricing or business models from analysis through go-to-market
- Experience partnering closely with product teams and turning financial analysis into product and roadmap decisions
- Advanced financial modeling skills in spreadsheets and comfort pulling and analyzing data in SQL
- Experience building business cases for major decisions and presenting recommendations to executive leadership
- Clear written and verbal communication, including explaining financial tradeoffs to product, engineering, and research audiences
- Sound judgment when data is incomplete, and comfort making calls and revisiting them as you learn more
- Interest in AI and commitment to Anthropic's mission of building safe, beneficial AI systems
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience
Preferred qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience across strategic finance, product finance, private equity, growth equity, venture capital, consulting, or investment banking
- Experience pricing APIs, developer tools, or cloud infrastructure services such as compute, storage, or data platforms
- Experience with enterprise commercial structures such as committed-spend agreements, volume discounts, reserved capacity, or tiered service levels
- Experience selling through cloud marketplaces or partner channels, and managing economics across first-party and third-party distribution
- Familiarity with how large language models are served, including token-based pricing, inference cost drivers, and capacity planning
- Experience monetizing a new product category without clear market benchmarks
- Experience building a team or leading and mentoring senior analysts
- Background in AI, ML, or related technologies
