Element Biosciences is seeking a Field Service Engineer to support its growing customer base in Italy and across the EMEA region. This role is based in Milan or Northern Italy with frequent travel (up to 80%) throughout EMEA to provide onsite installation, qualification, upgrades, repairs, and preventative maintenance on next-generation sequencers.
Key responsibilities include: providing onsite installation and maintenance service on NGS instruments; identifying root causes and resolving product issues in the field; collaborating with internal teams to resolve customer issues and improve processes; interacting with customers on service contract sales and support; assessing maintenance needs and implementing service plans; documenting work accurately in service CRM software; and managing spare parts inventory and car stock.
The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's degree or MS in Field Service, engineering, physics, biology, chemistry, or a related field with 1+ years of relevant experience. Experience with NGS sequencing instruments and troubleshooting complex laboratory equipment involving chemistry, software, and hardware is essential. Preferred qualifications include experience with multiple product launches, proficiency with data analysis tools (MATLAB, Python, C++, Java), fluorescence microscopy experience, and Linux basics. Fluency in both English and Italian (verbal and written) is required. The role demands flexibility for non-regular business hours customer support and the ability to move boxes up to 20 pounds frequently. This is a full-time position offering stock options and sales commission in addition to base compensation.
