Salary: USD 65,000 - 75,000 / annual
Via is a transportation technology platform that powers modern public transit networks globally. As a Field Operations Manager, you will lead daily onsite operations for Via's transit services, ensuring safe, reliable, and accessible transportation for riders and communities.
You will be the operational backbone of the service, making real-time decisions about fleet management, driver supply, compliance, and rider needs. Your responsibilities include running smooth daily operations, guiding and supporting drivers through relationship-building and problem-solving, translating rider and community feedback into operational improvements, and using data and technology to diagnose service issues and enhance efficiency. You'll act as the bridge between city partners, drivers, and Via's central teams, bringing community transportation goals to life.
This is a high-ownership, hands-on role requiring you to be onsite 4–5 days per week in Rochester, MN. You'll work in the field, learning the service firsthand and solving problems where they occur. The role demands both tactical problem-solving for immediate issues and strategic thinking for long-term solutions.
Qualifications:
- Background in people management, logistics, customer service, or process-oriented work
- Relationship-oriented with ability to earn trust from drivers, riders, teammates, and city partners through clear communication and follow-through
- Hands-on and proactive, preferring field-based work and firsthand service learning
- Ability to balance tactical problem-solving with strategic, long-term thinking
- Mission-driven focus on expanding transportation access and improving community mobility
- Based in Rochester, MN with availability for 4–5 days per week onsite work
