Anduril Industries is seeking a Field Operations Engineer to lead the execution and continuous improvement of Extra Large Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (XLAUV) field operations. This role bridges engineering, operations, and customer mission success, with primary responsibility for field outcomes and feeding operational insights back into product development. Key responsibilities include: operating and monitoring AUVs in real-time, coordinating launch and recovery operations, and executing day-to-day operational activities. You will support end-to-end deployment planning, including mission route optimization, operational risk assessment, and equipment readiness. The role requires delivering forward technical support across software and hardware systems, leading field maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, and system upgrades. You will develop and refine standard operating procedures, provide structured customer feedback to engineering teams, and contribute to the evolution of XLAUV capabilities. Close partnership with customers is essential, providing outstanding operational support and on-the-job training for customer users. Required qualifications include a degree or equivalent experience in engineering, robotics, marine systems, mechatronics, electrical, mechanical, or related fields. You must have demonstrated experience supporting autonomous systems, marine platforms, robotics, or complex fielded systems in operational environments, with proven ability to perform diagnostics, repairs, system upgrades, and configuration management in field conditions. The role requires willingness and ability to travel up to 50% of the time for field deployments, work irregular hours when required, and operate in maritime environments. Ability to obtain and maintain an NV2 security clearance is mandatory. The ideal candidate is an operational owner who thrives in complex, high-consequence environments, thinks systemically across hardware/software/sensors/comms, is comfortable working dockside or in remote locations, builds trust with stakeholders, and continuously improves processes and safety standards.
