Pronto AI is a global leader in commercializing autonomous vehicle technology, deploying Autonomous Haulage Systems (AHS) that automate operations in mines, quarries, and construction sites. The company delivers production-ready autonomy already operating in the field, with a mission to make mining operations safer, smarter, and more efficient.
As Mining Engineer, you will lead on-site deployments and serve as the bridge between Pronto's cutting-edge technology and the customer's day-to-day mining operations. You will manage a high-performing technical team, ensure customers meet infrastructure commitments, and deliver projects according to strict performance and safety criteria.
**Key Responsibilities:**
**Project Delivery & Management:** Deliver projects to agreed-upon performance metrics and success criteria, ensuring seamless integration of the autonomous system into the mine's production cycle. Manage the local field team, overseeing permitting, scheduling, safety compliance, and work performance. Hold customers accountable for their deliverables, including resource commitments, machine availability, and site/route/equipment readiness.
**Strategic Liaison:** Act as the central communication hub between the customer site and Pronto HQ, providing regular progress reports and escalating technical or operational blockers. Work with customers to set up or modify operational processes to accommodate autonomous haulage. Lead customer training programs on Pronto technology and manage formal handover of the system to the mine's operations team.
**Working Conditions:** This is an on-site, field-based role supporting operations across the Middle East. During deployments, you will stay regional to the customer in local accommodations or customer-provided quarters. Working schedules are based on mining rotations (e.g., x weeks on, y weeks off) rather than a standard office week. The current project commitment at Ma'aden requires approximately 2 months remaining on-site. Expect up to 75% travel across the Middle East.
**Physical Requirements:** Ability to traverse rugged mine sites and work in extreme environmental conditions. Compliance with all site-specific health and safety requirements, including medical clearances.
**Requirements:**
- 15+ years of direct mining experience; must be extremely comfortable and knowledgeable in mine site environments, understanding production and safety nuances.
- 5–10 years in a leadership role (e.g., Site Superintendent, Maintenance Manager, or Fleet Manager).
- Proven track record of actively participating in technology rollouts, such as autonomy, remote operations, telematics, or machine control systems.
- University Degree in Mining Engineering required to establish immediate credibility with customer stakeholders.
- Operational authority: ability to command respect on-site and influence customer decision-making to ensure site readiness.
- Deep understanding of how to transition a mine from manual to technology-assisted or autonomous operations.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills for reporting to executive-level stakeholders at both customer and Pronto.
