Anduril Industries, a defense technology company, is seeking an Explosives Operations Engineer to join its Explosives Engineering & Operations group in Costa Mesa, CA. This role supports the safe development, testing, and fielding of explosive systems across multiple Anduril product lines including Roadrunner, Bolt, Barracuda, Altius, and Copperhead.
You will execute explosives operations in lab, test, and field environments, working at the intersection of hands-on operations, safety, compliance, and mission execution. Key responsibilities include conducting hands-on explosives operations across multiple domains (land, sea, air), supporting range safety activities, assisting with site laydowns and blast/fragmentation considerations, and ensuring compliance with DoD, ATF/ATFE, DOT, OSHA, and internal safety requirements.
You will collaborate closely with engineering, manufacturing, program teams, and cross-functional stakeholders to support operational plans for deployed systems. Additional duties include managing explosives storage (inventory, security, inspections), contributing to training programs, providing subject matter expertise on explosives operations and safety, and working effectively with both USG and non-USG customers in austere environments.
The role requires 3+ years of explosives operations experience, including practical expertise in safety, storage, transportation, and test/field execution. You must have hands-on experience executing or supporting explosive operations in operational, test, range, or field settings, and familiarity with the regulatory environment (DoD explosives safety, ATF/ATFE, DOT, OSHA). Strong cross-functional collaboration skills and the ability to travel 25-50% domestically and occasionally internationally are essential. U.S. security clearance eligibility is required.
