LAP Coffee is transforming the specialty coffee retail experience by combining high-quality coffee with digital convenience and personal customer service. The company is expanding its store network across Germany and seeking an Expansion Lead to own the buildout and operational scaling of new locations.
In this role, you will lead the end-to-end delivery of store fit-out projects across Germany, from site assessment through keys-in-hand handover. You'll manage all aspects of construction projects including contractor selection and accountability, timeline and budget control, technical site assessments, and quality assurance. Your responsibilities span multiple dimensions:
Store Buildouts & Construction: Own fit-out projects end-to-end with hands-on site presence. Read architectural drawings, identify issues before they escalate, and manage general contractors, subcontractors and suppliers to maintain programme, quality and budget discipline. Conduct technical assessments and manage snagging and formal handover.
Cost & Commercial Control: Build and track capex budgets per store, benchmark cost per square metre across projects, and negotiate framework agreements with contractors to standardise procurement and drive down build costs.
Process Optimisation & Systems: Document lessons from each buildout to create better templates for future openings. Build procurement, briefing and cost-tracking workflows. Configure and maintain Asana, Notion and dashboards to keep cross-functional teams aligned across multiple parallel projects.
Portfolio Performance: Manage the existing store portfolio, coordinate maintenance and technical support, prevent downtime, and implement improvements that drive performance and enhance customer and barista experience.
You'll work closely with Real Estate, Store Operations, Finance, Brand and external contractors. The role is hands-on by design, requiring regular travel (~30–50%) across Germany to construction sites in Frankfurt, Cologne, Düsseldorf, Munich and Hamburg. You'll report to the founding team with direct access and short decision paths, giving you real autonomy to shape how the retail network scales.
REQUIREMENTS:
Must-haves:
- 3–5 years of hands-on experience in construction project management, retail fit-out or closely related field (not project support)
- Ability to read architectural drawings and technical specifications with sound judgement
- Proven experience managing contractors on site and keeping programmes on track
- Capability to run multiple projects simultaneously and make decisive calls independently
- Willingness to travel 30–50% and spend real time on construction sites across Germany (non-negotiable)
- Fluent German (C1+) and solid English
- Valid driver's licence
Nice-to-haves:
- Background in F&B, hospitality, architecture, civil engineering or real estate
- Comfort with Asana, Notion or MS Project; curiosity about AI and automation
