Halter is building autonomous livestock management technology that replaces traditional herding methods with smart collars and tower infrastructure. This role is a rare opportunity to establish Halter's operations in South America as one of the first regional hires.
You will be responsible for building an efficient operational system from scratch, visiting livestock farms across South America, and ensuring Halter's hardware infrastructure functions flawlessly. Your responsibilities include:
• Hardware Infrastructure Maintenance: Oversee maintenance and repair of Halter infrastructure installed at client farms to ensure smooth operations.
• Hardware Diagnostics: Identify equipment problems and communicate findings rapidly to the appropriate teams.
• Implementation Support: Visit farms to collaborate with first South American clients on Halter deployment, troubleshoot issues, manage installations, and ensure everything works correctly.
• Field Learning: Share clear insights from field experience with Product and Engineering teams in Auckland to ensure the company builds solutions that address South American livestock producers' actual needs.
• Technical On-Call: Participate in the global on-call rotation to respond to tower-related incidents and find proactive solutions within required timeframes.
• Data Analysis: Collect, interpret, and analyze hardware data to optimize processes and improve operational efficiency. Identify potential failures before they become problems.
• Maintenance System Design: Help design and manage a maintenance system tailored to South American market needs.
• Cross-Team Collaboration: Work closely with Halter teams across regions to maintain alignment and deliver excellent customer outcomes.
• Travel: Livestock producers are distributed across South America. Expect 3-4 days per week in the field, including overnight stays away from home.
• Flexible Problem-Solving: As Halter enters a new market, you'll contribute wherever needed to ensure regional success.
You bring practical hands-on experience with tools, electrical work, construction, networking, equipment installation, or similar technical tasks. You have deep knowledge of South American livestock production—you understand the territory, animals, and how regional producers operate. You're proactive, take ownership, and aren't afraid to learn and solve problems on the fly. You communicate clearly, translating field observations into concrete, actionable feedback for remote teams. You manage your own time well and deliver on tasks and deadlines independently. You collaborate effectively with distributed teams.
