Anduril Industries, a defense technology company transforming military capabilities through advanced technology, is seeking an Environmental Test Manager to lead their environmental testing operations in Costa Mesa, California.
In this critical leadership role, you will manage personnel, projects, and equipment to conduct rigorous environmental testing of aerospace, military, and space hardware. You will define strategic direction for the environmental lab, ensure operational efficiency, and foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading and managing environmental lab projects from quoting through execution, data review, failure analysis, and reporting
- Developing and implementing comprehensive qualification testing strategies for aerospace, military, and space hardware in compliance with program requirements
- Serving as subject matter expert in dynamic and environmental testing
- Overseeing operation and troubleshooting of advanced data acquisition and control systems, wiring, and instrumentation
- Directing operation and maintenance of environmental testing equipment including shaker tables, thermal chambers, altitude chambers, and thermal vacuum chambers
- Leading, mentoring, and managing a high-performing team of hourly and salaried employees
- Conducting performance evaluations, setting clear objectives, and implementing continuous improvement strategies
Required qualifications:
- 10+ years of environmental testing experience, with 5+ years in a management or leadership role
- Extensive expertise in environmental test standards (MIL-STD-810, RTCA DO-160, SMC-S-016)
- Proven ability to operate, manage, and troubleshoot environmental testing equipment
- Expertise in data acquisition systems and sensors (NI cDAQs, accelerometers, thermocouples)
- BS, MS, or PhD in an engineering discipline
- U.S. Person status (required for access to export-controlled information)
- Ability to perform physical efforts including standing for extended periods and lifting up to 25 lbs
Preferred qualifications include knowledge of hazardous/pressurized systems, instrumentation and control components, coding proficiency (Python, Matlab), 3D modeling software experience, and manufacturing process knowledge.
