Salary: USD 112,000 - 149,000 / annual
Anduril Industries, a defense technology company, is seeking an Environmental Health and Safety Associate Manager to join its rapidly growing team in Southern California. This role is responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) programs to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations at a newly constructed multi-building manufacturing campus. The position will initially be based at Anduril's headquarters in Costa Mesa, CA, with an eventual transition to Long Beach, CA as operations expand.
The Associate Manager will work closely with real estate and facilities teams during the construction phase to embed safety and environmental risk mitigation methods into the new campus design. As manufacturing and R&D operations move into the facility, the role will expand to oversee comprehensive EHS programs including occupational safety, chemical management, incident investigation and prevention, ergonomics, industrial hygiene, stormwater management, air emissions, and regulated waste handling.
Key responsibilities include conducting and documenting safety inspections to identify workplace hazards, serving as the primary EHS liaison with employees, managers, customers, auditors, and regulators, investigating accidents and incidents to analyze root causes and implement preventative actions, managing hazardous waste handling and compliance, and collaborating across departments to guide and influence safe workplace behaviors. The role requires expertise in Cal/OSHA regulations and 40 CFR Parts 260-279 hazardous waste management standards.
The ideal candidate brings 4+ years of experience implementing and overseeing EHS programs, strong communication skills across all organizational levels, and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines. Manufacturing experience and Laser Safety Officer certification are preferred. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys building EHS systems from the ground up in a dynamic, fast-growing defense technology environment.
