BitPay is seeking an experienced Enterprise Risk & Program Manager to establish and lead enterprise risk management (ERM) and internal audit functions for a rapidly growing regulated crypto fintech. This strategic role is critical to safeguarding firm resilience, ensuring regulatory compliance, strengthening governance, and enabling sustainable growth across digital asset products, payments, and financial services.
The successful candidate will develop a risk-aware culture, implement robust governance frameworks, oversee enterprise-wide risk management, and deliver an independent internal audit function providing assurance to executive management and the Board.
Key responsibilities include:
Enterprise Risk Management: Develop and maintain the ERM framework; define risk appetite and tolerance statements; lead enterprise-wide risk identification, assessment, monitoring, and mitigation; maintain the enterprise risk register and key risk indicators; conduct periodic enterprise risk assessments covering strategic, operational, financial, market, liquidity, counterparty, technology, cyber, digital asset, regulatory, compliance, third-party, fraud, and business continuity risks; facilitate risk workshops; monitor emerging crypto and fintech ecosystem risks; and drive Enterprise Risk and Internal Audit Committee governance.
Internal Audit: Build and lead an independent, risk-based internal audit function; enhance the audit plan using risk-based methodology; partner with stakeholders to execute audits across finance, compliance, risk, and cybersecurity; evaluate internal control effectiveness using recognized frameworks; track and report audit findings through remediation; present reports to senior management and Board Audit Committee; and coordinate with external auditors and regulators.
Required qualifications include at least 5 years leading enterprise risk, internal audit, governance, or operational risk programs within regulated financial services (preferably crypto); experience with regulated fintechs, digital asset firms, banks, or payment institutions; demonstrated program and project management leading cross-functional initiatives; experience interacting with regulators and Board committees; knowledge of payments and money transmission; fintech environment experience; strong COSO internal control framework knowledge; technical expertise in operational risk, regulatory reporting, financial crime controls, cybersecurity, third-party risk, and operational resilience; strategic mindset; strong communication skills; collaborative approach; and a Bachelor's degree in Business, Risk Management, Economics, or related field. Professional certifications (CIA, CISA, CAMS, CFE, CRM) are preferred.
