Cover Genius is the global infrastructure for embedded protection, operating in over 60 countries and all 50 US states. The company protects customers of major digital platforms including Klarna, Revolut, Stripe, Priceline, Agoda, Booking.com, Turkish Airlines, eBay, and Uber. With 73M+ customers protected across 240M policies and $3.2BN in gross written sales, Cover Genius recently raised $100M at a $1.9BN valuation and is accelerating growth in the $70B embedded protection market.
As Engineering Manager for the Travel XCover Squad, you will lead a dedicated team owning the technical vision and execution for travel integrations with new and existing partners. The squad manages three distribution channels: embedded integrations (direct API calls from partner checkouts), XCover Elements (configurable drop-in UI layer), and Standalone (hosted purchase flow). The team also builds Ancillaries—travel products beyond insurance such as baggage and disruption cover.
You will mentor and grow a team of talented engineers, translate product vision and OKRs into actionable technical roadmaps, and foster a culture of innovation and operational excellence. A core focus is championing AI-first development practices, guiding the team to adopt agentic tools like Claude Code and Gemini as core workflow accelerators rather than novelties. You'll collaborate closely with product, design, and partner-facing teams to translate business requirements into robust technical solutions.
Key responsibilities include leading teams to achieve annual objectives and KRs, fostering a culture of innovation and responsible AI adoption, driving technical excellence through code reviews and architectural decisions, and planning staffing and capacity to deliver predictably. You'll create an inclusive environment where engineers thrive, coach collaborative problem-solving and customer-centric thinking, deliver constructive feedback, and develop talent aligned with team success. You'll empower the team to achieve high engineering standards, ensure they own system operations including incident response, and help them evaluate and integrate AI tools that improve productivity and velocity.
Cover Genius operates on hybrid principles: work from home Wednesday and Thursday, office attendance Monday, Tuesday, and Friday with flexible start/finish times.
