Salary: USD 165,000 - 290,000 / annual

True Anomaly is building autonomous spacecraft, advanced payloads, mission software, and space-based interceptors to secure the space environment and counter threats. As Engineering Manager for Propulsion Vehicle Subsystem, you will own the strategy and execution of propulsion systems across the company's vehicles (Jackal, Space Based Interceptors, and future platforms) and lead the engineering team delivering them. You will directly supervise, hire, and develop a team of propulsion system and component engineers responsible for selecting components, designing subsystems, managing interfaces, coordinating suppliers, and delivering flight hardware on aggressive schedules. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring equal comfort with technical decision-making and people development. Key responsibilities include: supervising and developing propulsion engineers; working with propulsion technical leads to ensure technical, cost, and schedule performance; setting expectations, providing feedback, and creating development plans; fostering a culture of technical rigor, safety, and accountability; defining processes and tools to accelerate delivery; mentoring technical leads balancing competing demands; managing resources across multiple programs; providing technical oversight and approval authority for major design and analysis decisions; championing safety in requirements and designs; driving resolution of complex multi-faceted decisions; and coordinating with supply chain to ensure vendor performance and on-time delivery of high-quality products. REQUIREMENTS: - Bachelor's degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering - 10+ years of professional experience in propulsion and fluid systems engineering for aerospace, launch vehicle, or defense applications - At least 3 years in a direct people management or influential leadership role - Demonstrated experience leading an engineering team through the development cycle - Background in space propulsion or fluid system design, analysis, or test - Demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent workstreams, track schedule and budget performance, and surface risks proactively - Proven track record of building cohesive technical teams and developing individual contributors - Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including ability to present technical status and recommendations to senior leadership and external stakeholders - U.S. Citizenship required due to government contracts and ITAR regulations PREFERRED: - Direct experience managing a development program for a space vehicle - Familiarity with hypergolic propellant handling (NTO, MMH, UDMH, etc.), including material compatibility, PPE, and secondary containment - Experience scaling a team during high-growth or startup phase - Master's degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering - Active DoD security clearance (Secret or above), or ability to obtain one
