Salary: CAD 200,000 - 235,000 / annual

Robinhood is seeking an Engineering Manager for its Core Data Engineering team in Toronto. The mission is to democratize finance for all, and the company is building elite teams applying frontier technologies to solve major financial problems. About the Role: You will lead a team of approximately 10 data engineers based in Toronto, balancing people management (60% of time) with hands-on technical contributions (40% of time). The Core Data Engineering team is responsible for designing and building foundational datasets used across Robinhood's business, including data models, core data layers, and internal data and AI tooling. You will drive roadmap planning, establish clear goals, and collaborate with Data Science, Machine Learning, Product Management, and Business Operations teams. Key Responsibilities: - Lead, coach, and expand an exceptional team of 10 data engineers, setting high standards for execution and growth - Actively participate in technical execution including code reviews, architecture assessment, data quality assurance, and unblocking technical challenges - Define roadmaps and execution plans for core data engineering initiatives, translating ambiguous requirements into clear engineering goals - Build a platform that makes Robinhood's data discoverable, understandable, and usable for both people and AI through semantic models, metadata, and developer tooling - Partner with Data Science, ML, and Business Operations teams to build and maintain reliable, scalable data pipelines and foundational datasets supporting product expansion and business operations The role is based in the Toronto office with in-person attendance expected 5 days per week. Requirements: - 3+ years of experience as an engineering manager, with 5+ years of prior experience as a software engineer or data engineer - Strong hands-on experience with Python and Apache Spark - Familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS and data technologies such as Databricks, Delta Lake, Flink, or Pinot/Druid - Proven ability to drive clarity in ambiguous situations, take ownership of project planning, and guide engineering execution without relying on dedicated project managers - Demonstrated track record of building and maintaining reliable, large-scale data pipelines and foundational datasets
