Wolt is a delivery platform operating in over 500 cities across 30 countries. In 2022, Wolt joined forces with DoorDash and now operates as part of the DoorDash family alongside Deliveroo.
The Cx App Foundations team is a platform organization within Wolt's global customer experience (Cx) organization. It provides shared consumer foundations and platform capabilities used by engineering teams across Wolt, DoorDash, and Deliveroo. The Velocity team within this organization owns the paved road for consumer app development across mobile and web, including shared SDKs, client foundations, integration patterns, multi-brand customization, migration playbooks, reference implementations, and developer tooling. The mission is to reduce the cost, time, and risk of building consumer experiences across platforms and brands. The team is AI-native, with AI as a default part of design, build, and ship processes.
As Engineering Manager, you will lead a team of experienced engineers across mobile and web platforms, collaborating closely with product teams, design, and adjacent platform organizations across three brands. Your primary responsibility is owning the team's roadmap and delivery of shared client foundations, and driving their adoption across the organization so product teams can ship delightful customer experiences without rebuilding foundations.
Key responsibilities include: owning the platform roadmap (shared SDKs, client foundations, developer tooling) and sequencing it against migration and adoption goals; driving adoption by partnering with product teams and making the supported path the easiest path; leading, coaching, and growing experienced mobile and web engineers; maintaining a healthy operating model with clear intake, supported capabilities with entry criteria, and predictable delivery; guiding architectural and system design decisions for client foundations that multiple brands and platforms depend on; staying hands-on by contributing code and reviews; and growing the team through hiring.
You will be measured by the impact other teams achieve with the foundations you ship. This role requires clear communication across brands and time zones, and experience running platforms or shared services that other engineering teams depend on.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 3+ years of experience managing engineers, including managing senior engineers
- 5+ years of background in mobile or web engineering, with sufficient technical depth for architecture discussions about client foundations
- Fluent use of AI tooling in day-to-day work and staying close to the code
- Experience running a platform, SDK, or shared service that other teams depend on, with ability to treat internal customers as customers
- Natural ability to work across boundaries: product teams, design, other platform organizations, data/analytics, and stakeholders in different locations and time zones
- High bar for engineering quality; ability to navigate production incidents and release tradeoffs with calm structure
