Form Health is a venture-backed virtual obesity medicine clinic delivering evidence-based treatment through telemedicine. The company serves a rapidly growing market—obesity affects over 40% of the US adult population, yet historically only ~1% received medical treatment. Form Health combines board-certified physicians, advanced practice professionals, and registered dietitians with proprietary mobile app technology enabling video visits, text messaging, photo journaling, and customized educational materials.
You will lead the Care Delivery engineering team, which owns the systems that power clinical and operational workflows: charting, scheduling, task management, care coordination, and workflow automation. These are business-critical, safety-sensitive systems that the care team depends on every hour of every day.
As Engineering Manager, you will combine strong people leadership with technical depth. You'll guide engineers building complex backend services, workflows, and integrations—shipping systems that are reliable, scalable, secure, and maintainable. The role reports to the VP of Engineering and partners closely with product, clinical, and operational leaders.
Key responsibilities include: leading and coaching a small team on business-critical clinical and operational systems; establishing clear goals aligned with product and company priorities; fostering ownership and accountability; providing mentorship and career development; raising the technical and delivery bar through pairing, code review, and hands-on coaching; guiding architectural decisions for backend services and integrations; maintaining strong technical fluency across Ruby on Rails, Node.js, React/Next.js, and AWS infrastructure; ensuring healthy CI/CD pipelines and safe deployment practices in a regulated healthcare environment; championing small-batch continuous delivery with small PRs, short-lived branches, feature flags, and tight feedback loops; using DORA metrics to improve throughput and stability; overseeing systems supporting clinical charting, scheduling, task management, and care coordination; ensuring HIPAA and healthcare regulatory compliance; supporting thoughtful integration of automation and AI with human oversight; and partnering with product, clinical, and operations leaders to translate evolving requirements into clear engineering plans.
Form Health is an AI-native engineering organization. You should be fluent in agentic software delivery with tools like Claude Code as a core part of your workflow, and able to coach these practices into the team alongside fundamentals like small-batch delivery, feature flags, strong CI, and tight feedback loops.
Requirements:
- 5+ years managing engineering teams, with prior experience as a senior or staff-level engineer
- Track record leading delivery of complex backend or workflow-heavy systems in production, in fast-moving or high-growth environments
- Experience instilling delivery fundamentals (small-batch delivery, feature flags, testing, operational excellence) and coaching teams to adopt them
- Hands-on fluency with agentic, AI-native development (e.g., Claude Code)—you practice it yourself and can model and coach it into a team
- Strong communication across technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Plus (not required): experience in healthcare, clinical systems, workflow tooling, AI-enabled products, or other regulated domains
