Plaid is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead the team building financial data products for the next generation of personal finance applications. You'll oversee a team of 7 engineers (early-career to senior) working on Plaid's Transactions, Investments, and Liabilities products, spanning foundational improvements to new capabilities for AI-powered financial experiences.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading and developing a team of 7 engineers with clear expectations, coaching, and feedback
- Defining long-term team direction in partnership with Product, balancing new capabilities with reliability, data quality, and scale investments
- Participating in technical design and execution, guiding sound decisions across the product suite
- Driving projects from ambiguous customer problems through launch, adoption, and improvement
- Working directly with customers and go-to-market partners to shape solutions, explain tradeoffs, and set realistic commitments
- Building a team that delivers consistently and takes ownership of customer outcomes and system health

Requirements:
- 8+ years of software engineering experience, including time as a Staff-level engineer before transitioning into management
- 1+ years of engineering management experience
- Deep experience designing and operating reliable backend systems and APIs at scale
- Track record of building and growing high-performing engineering teams, either as an engineer or a manager
- Strong product judgment, including shaping roadmaps and balancing new features with foundational investments
