StubHub is seeking an Engineering Manager for AI Platform to lead the engineering team building infrastructure, platforms, frameworks, and AI-powered solutions that position StubHub as an AI-first company. This is a technical and organizational leadership role requiring someone who can translate rapidly evolving AI capabilities into reliable products and systems, create clarity in ambiguous spaces, and build a high-performing engineering team.
The AI Engineering team serves as StubHub's AI Center of Excellence, responsible for shared infrastructure, platforms, frameworks, and engineering foundations enabling teams across the company to use AI effectively and safely. The team works across the full AI technology stack—from foundational platform capabilities and reusable frameworks to end-to-end AI-powered solutions—including systems for developing, evaluating, deploying, and operating AI capabilities reliably at scale, as well as solving high-value problems where AI can materially improve productivity, quality, or operational efficiency.
In this role, you will:
- Lead a high-performing AI engineering team by establishing clear expectations, coaching engineers across career stages, developing senior technical leaders, managing performance thoughtfully and directly, and creating an environment where talented engineers can do their best work.
- Turn ambiguity into execution by translating rapidly evolving AI capabilities and company needs into achievable engineering plans, clarifying ownership, managing dependencies, making thoughtful tradeoffs, and driving predictable delivery.
- Build the foundations for AI at StubHub by guiding the development and operation of shared AI infrastructure, platforms, and frameworks that enable teams to build, evaluate, deploy, and operate AI-powered solutions safely and efficiently.
- Deliver end-to-end AI solutions by leading engineering efforts that apply AI to high-value problems across the company, from identifying opportunities through building, evaluating, deploying, and improving production solutions.
- Increase organizational leverage by determining when to build shared capabilities versus solve problems directly, and by enabling other teams to build effectively themselves.
- Maintain high performance standards by delivering candid feedback, developing engineers and technical leaders, and maintaining a consistently high performance bar.
You'll provide dedicated engineering leadership while partnering closely with senior leadership and senior technical contributors to help shape and execute StubHub's AI roadmap. You'll be accountable for the effectiveness of the engineering team—creating clarity around priorities, strengthening execution, developing engineers, and balancing foundational platform investments with high-value AI solutions. The impact extends well beyond this team: better AI infrastructure, products, and engineering practices can help StubHub employees deliver higher-quality work faster, improve the efficiency and quality of business operations, and shorten the path from idea to customer impact.
StubHub is the world's leading marketplace to buy and sell tickets to any live event, anywhere. Through StubHub in North America and viagogo internationally, the company services customers in 195 countries in 33 languages and 49 available currencies, with more than 300 million tickets available annually on the platform.
Requirements: The posting does not explicitly state specific years of experience, technical skills, education, or certifications required for this role. However, the role description implies expectations for: demonstrated experience leading engineering teams; technical depth in AI/ML systems and infrastructure; ability to navigate ambiguity and translate emerging technology into reliable systems; experience building and scaling shared platforms; and proven track record of developing technical leaders and maintaining high performance standards.
