Eucalyptus (part of Hims & Hers) is a digital healthcare company focused on obesity and weight management. The company operates Juniper, one of the world's largest weight-management programs combining GLP-1 medication with personalized nutrition, movement support, and clinician-led care. Eucalyptus serves patients across five markets including the UK, Australia, Germany, Japan, and Canada, and has received selective NICE endorsement to provide services to the NHS. You will lead engineering operations at the London headquarters on a hybrid schedule (3 days per week in-office). Your primary responsibilities include: • Unifying two separate engineering organizations into one cohesive team of 35 engineers (growing toward 50), managing 6–8 engineering managers as direct reports and establishing unified standards for planning, building, shipping, and accountability. • Running the London engineering site as the senior engineering voice, providing dotted-line support for US-focused teams based in London, setting the tone for the office, facilitating leadership forums, and making London an attractive place for exceptional engineers to join and stay. • Serving as the primary engineering partner to UK commercial, clinical, and product leaders, evaluating trade-offs through a commercial lens and communicating decisions rather than escalating them. • Shaping what the organization builds by evaluating whether proposed initiatives deliver real value and instilling thoughtful product instinct across your management team. • Owning senior hiring in London, setting quality standards, and mentoring engineering managers to become skilled hiring partners. • Raising engineering standards across a distributed organization spanning Sydney, London, and the US, strengthening delivery predictability, quality, and operational reliability. You will report to the CTO in Sydney and operate with the clarity and self-direction that distance requires. REQUIREMENTS: • Managed an engineering organization of 30+ people through managers, with at least 5 years of experience developing other managers. • Experience guiding an organization through significant structural change (integration, restructure, or operational overhaul) where teams emerged stronger; ability to reflect openly on what went badly and lessons learned. • Use AI tooling in your own work and have changed how a team builds with it (not just personal workflow); can articulate what it improved, what it worsened, and where you chose not to use it. • Demonstrated commercial fluency: hold constructive conversations on revenue, margin, and prioritization while making speed, scope, and risk trade-offs clear and explicit. • Experience building and scaling systems from the ground up, not simply maintaining existing systems. • Technical strength and credibility with senior engineers; ability to evaluate system architecture and spot weak technical estimates. Comfortable prototyping or unblocking the team on tools; can govern ecosystems built on React, React Native, TypeScript, Go microservices, GraphQL, Kubernetes, and GCP. • Comfortable managing a site distant from headquarters across time zones; leverage asynchronous communication with high agency, independence, and clarity. NICE TO HAVE: • Experience in regulated sectors (healthtech, fintech, gaming) and finding creative paths forward within compliance constraints. • Experience navigating post-acquisition organizational integration and alignment work.
