Until is building cryopreservation technology to enable organ and tissue preservation. A core unsolved challenge is rewarming: rapidly and uniformly rewarming whole organs to restart cryopreserved biology. The company has developed a high-power rewarming platform operating at MHz frequencies and tens of kA/m, but success depends on precise heat deposition at the interface between the platform and the biological sample. In this role, you will own the hardware and software interface between the rewarming system and the organ. You will design, build, and operate holders, fluidic circuits, sensing systems, control logic, and data acquisition infrastructure. You'll run experiments on holder designs and rewarming protocols alongside the organ and cryobiology teams, using real organs in the lab. You will reason from first principles using electromagnetics, heat transfer, and imaging/measurement data to model nanoparticle distribution and heating uniformity. Based on these models, you'll refine hardware designs and protocols iteratively. You'll develop sensing, control, interlock, and logging software for field profiles and temperature feedback. This is a hands-on role requiring comfort with both theoretical modeling and experimental hardware work. You'll learn quickly, take ownership of ambiguous problems, and contribute across the full rewarming hardware stack. The team is small and fast-paced, and you'll work closely with biologists (no biology background required). REQUIREMENTS: - 3+ years of hands-on engineering experience (student teams count); ability to walk through a project in depth, including where your first model was wrong - Strong command of electromagnetics, heat transfer, and fluid dynamics - Mechanical design and fabrication experience (CAD, rapid prototyping, 3D printing) - Circuit design experience from protoboard to PCB; ability to build and debug sensors, data acquisition, and control systems - Proficient in object-oriented programming in Python and/or C++ - Eager to work closely with biologists
