Starfish Space is a venture-backed aerospace company founded in 2019 that provides satellite servicing missions, including life extension for geostationary satellites and disposal missions for low Earth orbit satellites. The company has raised over $150M in funding and operates the Otter servicing vehicle, which has already launched several missions for customers including SES, the U.S. Space Force, the Space Development Agency, and NASA. You will join the embedded software team to build core software technologies used across Starfish's satellite systems. Your work will focus on relative navigation, robotics, and grappling subsystems—developing software that controls the key technologies enabling Starfish's satellites to interact with other spacecraft and actuate proprietary mechanisms. This is an opportunity to build novel technology that will fly in space in the near term. The role requires strong embedded systems fundamentals and experience shipping real products. You'll work across multiple compute hardware architectures and be responsible for high-performance, mission-critical software. This is a dynamic, fast-paced startup environment where you'll collaborate closely with guidance, navigation, control, and robotics engineers. REQUIREMENTS: - 3+ years of experience working on embedded software products - Previous experience working with and creating HIL (Hardware-in-the-Loop) / PIL (Processor-in-the-Loop) systems - Experience writing software for a variety of different compute hardware and architectures - Working knowledge of Python and C++ - B.S. degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, or similar field - Must be a U.S. person due to ITAR regulations (citizen, permanent resident, or designated asylee/refugee) - Willing to work from Tukwila, Washington - Capable of working in a dynamic, fast-paced startup environment PREFERRED: - Previous experience in the aerospace industry
