Airbnb's Global Crisis Management (GCM) team is seeking a Disaster Response Coordinator to play a pivotal role in mitigating the impact of unexpected events affecting the company and its community. This role is based in the United Kingdom and operates on a Tuesday-Saturday, 8am-5pm GMT/BST schedule, with occasional weekend and holiday work as needed.
In this position, you will be responsible for global incident response, including reviewing incident notifications, determining response strategies based on threat severity and business impact, and conducting proactive research to monitor global threats. You will draft and coordinate preparedness and response messaging for both internal and external audiences, using internal tools to inform stakeholders promptly. You will recognize the need to make critical business decisions that weigh tradeoffs and benefits of potential options.
You will serve as a key point of contact for the GCM Disaster Response team, effectively coordinating responses with cross-functional teams and providing clear situation reports and critical updates to stakeholders. You will also actively participate in product and process improvement efforts, collaborating with the operations manager to develop recommendations for enhancements.
Success in this role requires strong communication and presentation skills, the ability to exchange complex information effectively with diverse audiences, and meticulous attention to detail. You must possess a strategic mindset, developing process improvements with long-term needs in mind. Problem-solving and managing complexity are essential—you will need to consider financial, brand, and customer satisfaction risks when responding to incidents. You should be able to influence others by understanding their interests and needs, and making compelling cases for your perspective. Finally, you must maintain current knowledge of geopolitical developments and natural disaster activity across regions, understanding how these events unfold and affect Airbnb's community.
